Saturday was the annual Run-What-You-Brung Regatta. It's a sail around Kent Island (just across the Chesapeake Bay from Annapolis, MD). For the third year in a row there was absolutely no wind.
We drifted around for an hour or so then gave up and motored down to St Michael's for lunch. The after regatta party was pretty good, too.
When we came back to our marina I put Galena into her slip bow-first. This caused some good-natured ribbing from my friends at the dock; It's easier to go bow-first but far less social to have the cockpit pointing away from the dock. I didn't back in to allow me to stand on the dock while disassembling the bowsprit. taking the bowsprit off is the next major work I plan to do on Galena. The bowsprit is de-laminating and has to be replace (or maybe repaired, if there's no dry rot).
Once the bowsprit if off, Galena is no longer mission-capable. So she'll sit for at least the next few weeks. The bowsprit now, then the caprail and hull-deck joint, then the boomkin, then.... The long rebuild starts this week. Stay tuned for pictures and updates.
